MARDAN: The 24th meeting of the Syndicate of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Mardan, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad Khan, approved a series of major academic, research and institutional reforms aimed at strengthening the University’s role as a leading engineering institution in Pakistan.
The Syndicate approved the launch of several new academic programmes, including BS Computer Systems Engineering, BS Environmental Engineering, BS Electric Vehicles (EVs), MSc Mechanical Engineering, PhD Mechanical Engineering, Associate Degree Programmes and a Diploma in Electric Vehicle Technology.
The meeting also endorsed comprehensive postgraduate regulations, revised curricula and schemes of studies, the Research, Innovation and Commercialization (RIC) Policy, the ORIC Strategic Plan 2025–2030 and the University’s Five-Year Strategic Plan 2025–2030.
To promote academic excellence and support deserving students, the Syndicate approved a merit-based scholarship and fee concession scheme offering fee waivers of up to 100 percent for outstanding undergraduate students. Measures to facilitate admissions of students from other provinces and international applicants were also approved.
In addition, the Syndicate endorsed initiatives focused on curriculum modernization, online learning, faculty development, research enhancement and financial sustainability, reaffirming UET Mardan’s commitment to excellence in engineering, technology, innovation and applied research.
The meeting was attended by Justice (R) Irshad Qaiser, representatives of the Higher Education Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and senior members of the University’s administration and faculty.
