Egypt Preserves & Displays Thousands Years Old Heritage in Modern Way

The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt celebrated the opening of the Great Egyptian Museum GEM in Islamabad that is , what H.E. Dr. Ihab Abdelhamid, the Ambassador rightly said is a truly historic moment and a new home for the treasures of ancient Egypt.

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has been fully inaugurated on Novmber 1, 2025. The opening ceremony was attended by Egyptian president Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, the First Lady, as well as representatives of foreign countries and prominent public figures.

The Embassy of Egypt hosted a reception in Islamabad to mark this big achievement of their country. H.E. Dr. Ihab Abdelhamid, the Ambassador and staff of the embassy enthusiastically welcomed the guests at Hotel Movenpick for introduction to GEM and to celebrate the remarkable accomplishment of a national as well as international task to preserve the human heritage of thousands of years for the next generations.

The Grand Egyptian Museum stands as an architectural masterpiece. With a cost of over one billion dollars, it covers an impressive area of 480,000 square meters. Designed under the auspices of UNESCO, the museum was envisioned as a “fourth pyramid” — a stunning visual and symbolic extension of its ancient counterparts.
A documentary was screened to better apprise the guests from different walks of life especially gov officials , ambassadors and media persons. Head of Africa Desk at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan Amb Hamid Asghar Khan graced the occasion with his presence.

Ambassador extend a warm welcome to friends from the international community, saying, their presence reflects the shared appreciation of humanity’s cultural heritage and our collective commitment to preserving it for future generations.

Ambassador in his introductory remarks shared , “This museum is not only the largest archaeological museum in the world, but also a symbol of Egypt’s deep respect for history, culture, and knowledge. It stands proudly near the Great Pyramids of Giza — uniting our glorious past with our modern vision for the future.”

H.E. Dr. Ihab Abdelhamid briefed the guests, ” Through this museum, Egypt opens its doors to the world — inviting all nations to explore the story of human civilization written on the banks of the Nile. It is a story of creativity, resilience, and timeless beauty.”

” The journey of the Grand Egyptian Museum is, in itself, a story of perseverance and vision. The vision extended beyond the museum’s walls — integrating it with the broader development of the Giza Plateau, Sphinx International Airport, and key highways, transforming the entire region into a world-class cultural and tourism destination, Ambassador condinued.
The true jewel of the museum lies in its collection — more than 100,000 artifacts, including the complete, breathtaking treasures of King Tutankhamun, displayed together for the first time in history. Enhanced by cutting-edge technology and augmented reality, these exhibits bridge between the past and the present, bringing the story of ancient Egypt to life in a way never seen before.

Ambassador encourage the tourism and travel agencies in Pakistan and across the international community to work closely with their partners in Egypt to organize cultural tours and travel programs to the Grand Egyptian Museum. H.E was confident that this extraordinary destination will offer unforgettable experiences for visitors of all ages, and further strengthen the growing tourism ties between Egypt and Pakistan.
