PESHAWAR: Minerals Association KP President Afsar Muhammad Khan has demanded immediate lifting of restrictions on mining explosives and urged the government to amend the Minerals Act 2017 in consultation with genuine stakeholders.
He called for workable safety rules, relief for mining workers and leaseholders, and an end to restrictions on transporting already-extracted minerals. He also sought restructuring of MEFA, a Minerals Development Bank, greater opportunities for local investors and value addition within KP.
Afsar Muhammad Khan said the mining community supports safety and environmental regulations but wants a fair system that protects livelihoods and promotes sustainable mineral development.
