PESHAWAR: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar, Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad, reviewed security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram during visits to the Gulbahar and Kohati Command Posts after supervising security measures for the central mourning procession in Saddar Cantonment.

Following an inspection of security arrangements for the main 9th Muharram procession in Saddar Cantonment, the CCPO conducted a detailed review of security measures for mourning processions and religious gatherings in Gulbahar and other areas of the inner city.

The visit was attended by Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Zahid Ullah, SSP Operations Farhan Khan, and divisional SPs.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad said police officers and personnel were performing their duties with dedication and responsibility in accordance with the approved security plan. He stated that Peshawar Police remain fully alert to deal with any situation and are utilizing modern technology to ensure the security of processions, Imambargahs, mosques and other sensitive locations.

He said advanced surveillance tools, including drone cameras, anti-drone systems, drone guns, body cameras and modern monitoring systems, have been deployed to strengthen security arrangements. The inner city has been sealed, while procession routes and sensitive locations are being monitored in real time through Safe City and CCTV cameras.

The CCPO added that Bomb Disposal Unit teams and sniffer dogs are continuously carrying out sweeping and clearance operations along procession and congregation routes. Participants in mourning processions are being allowed entry only after completing a three-tier security screening process, while additional personnel have been deployed at entry and exit points.

Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad said Peshawar Police are maintaining close coordination with the district administration, law enforcement agencies and religious scholars from different schools of thought to ensure peace and harmony during Muharram.

He further informed that targeted search and strike operations against criminals, suspicious individuals and anti-social elements are continuing across the district under the supervision of divisional SPs, while patrolling and security checkpoints in sensitive areas have also been enhanced.

The CCPO reaffirmed that Peshawar Police are utilizing all available resources to protect lives and property, ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram and maintain foolproof security arrangements throughout the city.
