CHITRAL: The Corps Commander 11 Corps Football Tournament Chitral 2026 got underway with a grand opening ceremony in Chitral, officially marking the start of the prestigious football event.
The ceremony began with Commandant Chitral Scouts welcoming the families of martyrs and football legends. Rich tributes were paid to the sacrifices of the martyrs, while the contributions of veteran footballers towards promoting the game and mentoring young players were also acknowledged.
Following a reception and tea, the distinguished guests proceeded to the football ground, where the tournament was formally inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The tournament trophy was also unveiled on the occasion.
The opening day’s fixtures witnessed exciting contests. In the first match, Headquarters Jaghoor FC defeated Academy FC Jaghoor by 2-0, while One Minded Lutkoh FC registered a 3-1 victory over Zang Bazar FC in the second match.
Organisers said the tournament aims to promote football, encourage healthy competition and provide positive recreational opportunities for youth. The opening ceremony and opening-day matches attracted enthusiastic football fans, with growing excitement for the remaining fixtures of the tournament.
