TANK: Deputy Commissioner Tank Jamshed Khan has ordered strict action against negligence and administrative shortcomings at District Headquarters Hospital Tank following a surprise inspection.
Accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Jamshed Alam Khan, the DC inspected the emergency department, X-ray unit, laboratory, medical store and other sections of the hospital. He expressed serious concern over poor cleanliness, unhygienic conditions and inadequate sanitation.
Expired medicines were reportedly found during the inspection, prompting directions for an inquiry and fixing of responsibility. Some employees were also reportedly absent from duty in important sections, including the X-ray unit and laboratory. Departmental proceedings were initiated against some officials, while further action was recommended against others.
Jamshed Khan said exploitation of patients and negligence in public healthcare would not be tolerated. He directed the hospital administration to ensure staff attendance, availability of essential medicines, clean drinking water, proper sanitation and maintenance of medicine records.
He said government medicines and resources were public property and must be used solely for the benefit of patients.
Citizens have also called for transparent monitoring of doctors and staff and strict accountability where negligence or absenteeism is established.
The Deputy Commissioner said DHQ Hospital Tank was a vital healthcare facility for the district and assured that the administration would continue monitoring its performance to ensure better services for patients.
