ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has strongly rejected recent remarks by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, saying India cannot alter internationally recognized legal facts through threats or political rhetoric.
In a statement posted on X, Khawaja Asif said Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized disputed territory, with its final status to be determined under relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
He said India’s repeated allegations against Pakistan lacked credibility, alleging that India itself was a major source of instability in South Asia through its aggressive and expansionist policies.
The Defence Minister expressed concern over what he described as India’s provocative rhetoric, warning that such statements risk increasing regional tensions. He reaffirmed that Pakistan remains committed to peace and dialogue but would firmly safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.
Khawaja Asif also said the Indian leadership’s statements appeared aimed at diverting attention from domestic political challenges and growing public dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance.
