PESHAWAR: Globally acclaimed urologist, clinician, researcher, and medical educationist Prof Dr Liaqat Ali of the Institute of Kidney Diseases (IKD), Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC), to participate and represent Pakistan in the 46th International Urology Conference to be held on November 11-14 in Florence, Italy.
According to the available details, Dr Liaqat Ali is the only professor of urology from KP public sector hospitals to attend this prestigious international forum, inviting urologists from all over the world to strengthen collaborations and work for the advancement of urological services worldwide.
In the conference, he will present three papers and also co-chair the joint session of SAARC Association of Urological Surgeons.
It is to be mentioned here that he is an internationally recognized clinician, researcher, and academician, but the least celebrated and ignored professional. The pass percentage and merit of his unit at IKD is number one in KP, however, he has never been encouraged for his remarkable achievements in developing the IKD as one of the best tertiary care hospitals by promoting a conducive learning environment over there, as his model of postgraduate teaching and training is followed in all Pakistan.
Similarly, his contribution in developing research ecosystem in KP has been endorsed by Health Research Advisory Board (HRAB) and other institutions, while he didn’t spend a penny from the government exchequer in organizing hundreds of conferences, symposia, and workshops, which is a good example of his financial integrity.
According to his urology fraternity, he is considered as the best supervisor, surgeon and medical teacher, and he has represented the homeland on national and international forums, but the provincial government still didn’t acknowledge his remarkable services. Even ignoring the fact that all major urological surgeries of high-ups in the province, especially cancer surgeries are still performed by him.
The fraternity has asked the high-ups to acknowledge and encourage such extraordinary professionals, as they have a major role in the progress of the province through their exceptional capabilities and services.
