Glaucoma Awareness Walk Held at Hayatabad Medical Complex

PESHAWAR: A Glaucoma Awareness Walk was organized at Hayatabad Medical Complex to promote public awareness regarding glaucoma and its prevention.

The walk was arranged under the supervision of Incharge PICO Prof. Sana Ullah Jan, with active participation from faculty members and students.

The ceremony was graced by the Guest of Honour, Chairman Board of Governors (BOG) Dr. Noor ul Iman. On the occasion, Medical Director Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Khattak, Dean Khyber Girls Medical College Prof. Shahzad Akbar, Hospital Director Gulzar Ahmad, and other administrative officials of the hospital were also present.

During the event, the Director PICO, along with the distinguished guests and participants, organized an awareness walk around the hospital premises to educate patients and their attendants about glaucoma, its symptoms, and the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment to prevent vision loss.

On this occasion, the Medical Director, Chairman BOG, Dean KGMC Prof. Shahzad Akbar, Director PICO, and other participants also planted commemorative trees within the hospital premises as a symbolic gesture to promote a greener and healthier hospital environment.

At the conclusion of the walk, shields were presented to the Director PICO by the Chairman Board of Governors in recognition of his services in promoting glaucoma awareness, while the Chairman BOG was also presented with a commemorative shield as the Guest of Honour.

The event reflected the commitment of the hospital administration and medical community to raise public awareness about eye health and to promote timely diagnosis and preventive measures against glaucoma.
