Jhelum: Gulzar-e-Madina Welfare Trust Germany organized a grand ceremony for the prisoners of District Jail Jhelum on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, in which the chairman of the trust, Haji Chaudhry Tikka Khan and Hassan Butt, distributed pairs of clothes as Eid to about 300 prisoners. The special guest of the ceremony was Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Mir Raza Ozgun, while Superintendent Yasir Khan welcomed the distinguished guests. Renowned social figure Hassan Butt, DO Literacy Maimuna Anjum and journalist Muhammad Raheel Khalil also attended the ceremony. It was informed on this occasion that Gulzar-e-Madina Welfare Trust has previously completed several welfare projects in the jail such as installing a water pump, providing 25 ceiling and exhaust fans, constructing a separate meeting shed for female prisoners and installing 25 benches. The representatives of the Trust expressed their determination to continue playing their full role in the welfare of the prisoners and providing facilities as per the jail manual in the future so that this series of service to humanity continues.
The participants appreciated these humanitarian services of the Trust and said that such measures promote compassion and brotherhood in the society and provide an opportunity for the prisoners to participate in the joys of Eid. Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Mir Raza Ozgun, while praising the efforts of the Trust, said that the participation of philanthropists in welfare works in prisons is a good deed which helps in the reformation of the prisoners and bringing positive changes in their lives.
