Gymnastics Official Hospitalized Before Peshawar Championship

PESHAWAR: Technical official (referee judge) Shams-ur-Rehman Orakzai was hospitalized after suffering a heart problem before he could officiate at the Peshawar Junior Gymnastics Championship at Hayatabad Sports Complex.

According to organizers, Orakzai had travelled from Hangu on the invitation of Hayatabad Gymnastics Academy coach Muhammad Gul to serve as a technical official in the championship held under the patronage of Provincial Gymnastics Association President Aamir Sabir Advocate. However, after arriving in Peshawar, he suffered a heart attack and was immediately shifted to the Institute of Cardiology Peshawar, where doctors provided emergency treatment and admitted him to the hospital.

Sources said Orakzai had also suffered a heart attack about two weeks ago and had recently undergone successful heart surgery at the Institute of Cardiology Peshawar. After recovering, he returned to sports activities but unfortunately fell ill again before the championship.

Sports officials, athletes and members of the sports community have prayed for his speedy and complete recovery and wished him a quick return to serving the sport.
