PESHAWAR : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Khaliq Ur Rehman on Thursday visited Bacha Khan International Airport to assess health screening arrangements for international passengers and review the preparedness of airport health authorities.
The minister was received by the Airport Manager, Airport Health Officer and Deputy Airport Manager (APM). During the visit, he inspected the international arrival and departure areas and reviewed the existing health screening mechanism, passenger flow and procedures being followed by the Airport Health Department.
Officials briefed the minister about the functioning of thermal scanners, passenger screening protocols and the duties being performed by health staff at the airport.
Later, at the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) auditorium, the Airport Health Doctor gave a detailed briefing on the functions, responsibilities and activities of the Airport Health Department. Airport management and health officials also apprised the minister of staffing requirements, stressing the need for additional doctors and paramedical personnel to ensure effective health screening and emergency response.
Khaliq Ur Rehman appreciated the efforts of frontline health workers and other stakeholders involved in maintaining health services at the airport. He also presented certificates of appreciation to health workers and officials in recognition of their dedicated services.
The minister said that effective health screening at entry and exit points was essential to protect public health and ensure timely detection of potential health risks. He assured the officials that their genuine staffing and operational needs would be considered on a priority basis.
The visit concluded with the minister reiterating the importance of maintaining high standards of health screening and strengthening coordination among airport management and health authorities to safeguard passengers and staff.
