PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Syed Fakhar Jehan has congratulated the newly elected President of the Peshawar Press Club, M. Riaz, General Secretary Alamgir Khan, Finance Secretary Irshad Ali,along with other cabinet members and governing body office-bearers on their success in the annual elections.
In his felicitation message, the provincial minister said that the Peshawar Press Club is an effective and vibrant forum of the journalist community which has always played a significant role in the promotion of responsible journalism.
He noted that free, responsible and professional journalism is indispensable for the strengthening of democratic society and for enhancing public awareness.
Syed Fakhar Jehan expressed the hope that the newly elected representatives would continue their efforts for the welfare of journalists, improvement of professional capacity and promotion of journalistic ethics, while also playing a positive role in highlighting public issues.
The provincial minister extended best wishes to the successful candidates and prayed for their further success, expressing confidence that the new body of the journalist community would, through their pen, continue to inform the public about the government’s welfare-oriented initiatives.
