PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s renowned international wheelchair tennis player Muhammad Faraz, who belongs to Nowshera, is currently under treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Peshawar, following a serious illness. He has successfully undergone surgery and is recovering under the supervision of a team of doctors.
Faraz is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s number-one wheelchair tennis player and a two-time consecutive defending champion of the Malik Umar Khan Memorial Wheelchair Tennis Championship. He also represented Pakistan at an international championship held in Sri Lanka in February 2026, bringing recognition to the country through his outstanding performance.
Senior Vice President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tennis Association and renowned sports organiser Malik Umar Ayaz Khalil, while inquiring after Faraz’s health, said that he was a valuable asset to Pakistan’s sporting community and had always represented the country with distinction in wheelchair tennis.
He said Faraz’s absence from the recently concluded National Wheelchair Tennis Championship in Lahore due to his illness was a major loss for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Had he been part of the provincial team, KP would have had a strong chance of winning the championship trophy once again.
Malik Umar Ayaz Khalil expressed optimism about Faraz’s recovery, saying that his surgery had been successful and he was receiving the best possible medical care. He expressed hope that Faraz would soon regain his health and return to the tennis court to achieve further successes for the province and Pakistan.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tennis Association reiterated its commitment to supporting athletes with special abilities and providing them with every possible opportunity to excel at national and international levels.
