Morocco Calls for Transparency and Accountability in Western Sahara Dispute

TIMES REPORT

RABAT:Morocco’s call for transparency and accountability in the Western Sahara dispute has gained renewed attention following reports of alleged financial irregularities, investment fraud and document-related investigations involving individuals and networks associated with the Polisario Front.

Cases reported in Spain, Italy, the Tindouf camps and Ibiza have raised concerns about public fund management, humanitarian assistance and financial oversight. These include proceedings involving Spanish official Inés Miranda Navarro, the reported collapse of the Infravest investment company, allegations concerning Polisario representative Fatima Mahfoud, and an ongoing document inquiry in Ibiza.

Although the allegations have not established collective or institutional guilt, they highlight the need for independent investigations, transparent financial records and effective protection of vulnerable communities.

Morocco maintains that regional stability, development and a sustainable political solution require accountable institutions and respect for the rule of law. The protection of humanitarian aid recipients, investors and ordinary Sahrawi families must remain a priority.
