NAB KP vows action to retrieve Pakistan Railways land under illegal occupation -

PESHAWAR : The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has assured Pakistan Railways of full cooperation in retrieving and protecting its land under illegal occupation, with the issue emerging as a key focus of discussions between senior officials in Peshawar.

Divisional Superintendent Pakistan Railways Peshawar Imran Hayat called on NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Director General Naveed Haider Zahid at his office, where they discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly the leasing, protection and recovery of railway land.

During the meeting, Imran Hayat congratulated the NAB KP director general on the successful one-day briefing session held at the Cabinet Hall of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretariat. He appreciated NAB’s efforts concerning the record and leasing of government land and expressed his willingness to strengthen mutual consultation and cooperation among relevant departments.

Referring to the Pakistan Railways Land and Property Rules, 2023, the divisional superintendent said Pakistan Railways was authorized under the rules to lease out its surplus and excess land in accordance with the applicable legal framework.

He urged district administrations to review Pakistan Railways’ land-leasing policies and extend cooperation to facilitate the lawful utilization and leasing of railway land.

Naveed Haider Zahid, while speaking on the occasion, referred to recent high-level meetings between Pakistan Railways and NAB. He said that, on the special directives of the NAB chairman, the recovery of railway land under illegal occupation had been placed among NAB’s key priorities.

The NAB KP chief assured the Pakistan Railways delegation that all possible assistance would be extended for the retrieval, protection and lawful management of occupied railway land.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on closer coordination between NAB, Pakistan Railways and district authorities to safeguard public assets and ensure that railway land is utilized and leased strictly in accordance with the rules.
