PESHAWAR: Basketball players from Government City Girls College Gulbahar and various clubs in Peshawar have achieved another milestone by representing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a national-level tournament in Lahore.
Two Peshawar teams, comprising four players each, are participating in the five-day event being held from September 7 to 11, with around 30 clubs from across Pakistan taking part.
Najma Naz Qazi, Sports Director of Government City Girls College Gulbahar and Vice President Women Wing of the KP Basketball Association, said the Peshawar club team has won both its matches, boosting the players’ confidence.
She said 18 top-performing players will be shortlisted for a training camp, while three teams will later be formed to represent Pakistan in Girls 3×3 Basketball competitions under FIBA Asia.
Najma Naz Qazi said the college is providing students with opportunities to excel in sports alongside academics, with its players achieving success in several national and inter-district competitions.
