PESHAWAR: The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected cabinet of the Press Club Upper Chitral was held at the Conference Hall of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in Peshawar.
Deputy Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Suraya Bibi, administered the oath to the newly elected cabinet.
The ceremony was attended by President Peshawar Press Club Muhammad Riaz, former Chief Minister’s Adviser Wazirzada, Chairperson of the Journalism Department at the University of Peshawar Dr. Mehnaz Gul, AIG Establishment Ghazi Khalid Khan, Additional Secretaries Syed Kazim Hussain Shah and Hayat Shah, senior journalist Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah and other prominent political, social, academic and journalistic personalities.
Speakers highlighted the importance of responsible, impartial and professional journalism, urging journalists to effectively highlight the issues facing the people of Chitral and promote professional standards.
Press Club Upper Chitral President Muhammad Ali Mujahid thanked the chief guest and other participants and briefed the deputy speaker about the needs and issues facing the press club.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Speaker Suraya Bibi urged journalists to perform their professional responsibilities with honesty, impartiality and dedication. She announced the immediate release of the Press Club Upper Chitral grant and assured that practical steps would be taken next year for the construction of a permanent building for the press club.
At the conclusion, the Press Club Upper Chitral presented Deputy Speaker Suraya Bibi with a traditional Chitrali cap and a special shield in recognition of her services. Senior journalist Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah was also presented a shield in recognition of his journalistic services and contribution to Chitral.
The ceremony concluded in a dignified and memorable atmosphere, highlighting the importance of journalism, culture, development and public issues in Chitral.
