PTI Hijacked, Decisions Made Behind Closed Doors: Muammar Khan

Bajaur: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader from Bajaur, Muammar Khan, has expressed serious concerns over the party’s current organizational affairs, alleging that decision-making within PTI has been confined to a handful of individuals while ideological and long-serving workers continue to be sidelined. He warned that if this trend persists, it would not only weaken the party’s organizational structure but also erode public confidence.
Addressing a press conference at the Bajaur Press Club, Muammar Khan said PTI was founded on the principles of justice, freedom from oppression, the rule of law, and humanity. However, he regretted that the party’s current decision-making process appears to contradict those very ideals. He alleged that key decisions are being made behind closed doors rather than through open consultation, the party’s organizational framework, and the input of grassroots workers, leaving dedicated party members deeply disappointed.
He further stated that the primary responsibility of PTI’s elected representatives should have been to uphold Imran Khan’s political narrative, work for his release, and restore the confidence of party workers. Instead, he claimed, many elected representatives appear to be more focused on pursuing personal and political interests. According to him, the seriousness and practical efforts expected for Imran Khan’s release are largely absent.
Muammar Khan also alleged that the recently announced PTI Bajaur district cabinet was formed without consulting party workers, the local organization, or senior leaders, calling the move contrary to democratic traditions and transparent organizational practices within the party. He maintained that such decisions not only fuel internal divisions but also make ideological workers feel marginalized.
He emphasized that PTI is not the party of any single group or a few individuals, but the result of the political struggle and sacrifices of millions of workers. Therefore, he said, the party should be run through collective consultation and in accordance with its ideological principles rather than personal interests. He warned that suppressing the voices of workers and ignoring the consultative process would further weaken the party.
Concluding the press conference, Muammar Khan announced that he and other ideological party workers would continue to raise their voices on every democratic, political, and constitutional platform for the release of Imran Khan, the protection of the party’s founding ideology, and the rights of its workers. He also vowed to politically oppose, at every level, those elements within the party who, in his view, prioritize personal interests over the interests of PTI and its workers.
