Islamabad: The Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) Islamabad Chapter hosted its much-anticipated Annual Alumni Reunion 2025, bringing together over 150 distinguished alumni representing a diverse range of U.S. government-funded exchange programs, including Fulbright, Humphrey, IVLP, UGRAD, SUSI, English Works, and others. The reunion served as a vibrant celebration of community, leadership, and the enduring impact of U.S.-Pakistan educational and cultural exchange initiatives.
The gathering provided a unique opportunity for alumni from multiple cohorts to reconnect, reflect, and share experiences that continue to shape their personal and professional journeys. It also highlighted PUAN’s ongoing mission to strengthen the alumni network and empower members to contribute positively to their communities through collaboration, innovation, and civic engagement.

The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Andy Halus, Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy; Ms. Heidi Smith, Director of Public Engagement, U.S. Embassy Pakistan; and Mr. Mazhar Qayyum Awan, Director of Alumni Affairs at the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP). The guests commended PUAN’s dynamic community for sustaining meaningful connections across diverse disciplines and for promoting people-to-people ties between Pakistan and the United States.


Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Halus appreciated the alumni for their leadership and commitment to social development, emphasizing that such exchanges foster mutual understanding and long-term partnerships between nations. Ms. Smith reflected on the significance of alumni engagement and the power of collective action, while Mr. Awan highlighted the vital role USEFP continues to play in supporting alumni initiatives and professional development.
The program featured inspirational alumni talks, where participants shared their achievements and the transformative influence of their U.S. exchange experiences. The reunion also included networking activities that encouraged cross-sector collaboration, mentoring opportunities, and the exchange of innovative ideas among alumni leaders.

Moderated by Global UGRAD alumna Shafaq Shahid, the event reflected the spirit of inclusivity, leadership, and service that defines the PUAN community. Representing the new generation of alumni leadership, Shafaq’s moderation brought energy and engagement to the evening, fostering a warm and participatory environment.
The PUAN Islamabad Chapter expressed gratitude to the U.S. Embassy and USEFP for their continued support, as well as to all alumni who contributed to making the reunion a memorable and impactful event. The evening concluded with a renewed commitment among attendees to strengthen the alumni network, promote educational exchange, and contribute toward building a brighter, more connected future for Pakistan and beyond.
