DERA ISMAIL KHAN: On the directives of Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Dera Shaukat Iqbal, RTA monitoring teams conducted special inspections of various bus stands and passenger routes to review facilities for commuters and ensure compliance with transport laws.
During inspections of bus stands, teams checked basic facilities including washrooms, waiting areas, prayer places, parking spaces, clean drinking water, fans and cleanliness. Where deficiencies were identified, concerned administrations were directed to take immediate corrective measures, while cleaning work was initiated at some locations.
The teams also checked passenger vehicles operating on different routes for overcharging, overloading/seating, validity of route permits and functioning of air-conditioning systems. Passengers were also consulted on the spot regarding fares and travel facilities.
According to RTA officials, fines and other legal action were taken against transporters and vehicle owners found violating rules.
Officials said the inspection and monitoring campaign would continue to ensure safe and comfortable travel, implementation of approved fares, prevention of over-seating and compliance with route permit regulations.
