TIMES REPORT

PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs Tariq Saeed Marwat on Wednesday inaugurated the Pakhtunkhwa Emergency Helpline (PEHL-911), describing it as a major step towards providing integrated and modern emergency services across the province.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Tariq Saeed Marwat said the provincial government is committed to strengthening public safety through efficient and technology-driven emergency response services. Additional Chief Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Ikramullah Khan, senior government officials and representatives of law enforcement agencies also attended the event.

Officials briefed participants that PEHL-911 will provide citizens with a single emergency number to access police, Rescue services, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and other emergency responders round the clock.

The briefing noted that people will be able to call 911 even without an active SIM card or mobile network, enabling access to emergency assistance in remote and hard-to-reach areas.

Tariq Saeed Marwat said the new helpline would significantly improve emergency response and public safety in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He directed the authorities to establish an effective mechanism to prevent fake and unnecessary calls and ensure the helpline remains available for genuine emergencies.

He also instructed officials to develop a comprehensive system for monitoring, tracking and following up on all emergency calls to ensure timely and quality services for the public.
