Secretary Energy Nisar Ahmad Reviews Progress on Key Hydropower Projects

PESHAWAR: Secretary Energy and Power Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nisar Ahmad, chaired the weekly Good Governance Roadmap meeting to review the progress of ongoing energy projects and assess developments in the province’s power sector.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the 300 MW Balakot Hydropower Project, the 88 MW Gabral Kalam Hydropower Project, the 84 MW Mataltan Hydropower Project and the 69 MW Lawi Hydropower Project.

Officials also briefed the meeting on progress regarding civil works and tower installations for the 132 KV and 220 KV transmission lines under the Swat Corridor project, which is considered vital for strengthening the regional power transmission network.

The Secretary was further updated on developments related to the Direct Supply Model for electricity sales, aimed at improving efficiency and expanding power distribution options.

The meeting also reviewed ongoing and planned solar energy initiatives as part of the government’s efforts to promote renewable energy and enhance power generation capacity in the province.

Speaking on the occasion, Nisar Ahmad directed all concerned authorities to ensure the timely completion of power generation and transmission projects in accordance with approved timelines. He emphasized that no negligence or unnecessary delays would be tolerated and stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of performance and accountability.

The Secretary reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating energy sector development and ensuring reliable and sustainable power supply through the successful completion of strategic energy projects across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
