PESHAWAR: Officers attending the Senior Management Course visited the Peshawar Safe City Command and Control Centre to learn about technology-driven policing and modern security systems.
Project Director Safe Cities Khyber Pakhtunkhwa DIG Ijaz Ahmad briefed the visiting officers on the role of Safe City technology in crime prevention, real-time monitoring and rapid police response.
During the visit, the officers inspected various sections of the Command and Control Centre and received briefings on facial recognition, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), thermal cameras, sensors, alert generation systems, drones and UAVs, anti-drone systems, panic buttons, e-challans, body-worn cameras, vehicle camera solutions and responder tablets.
DIG Ijaz Ahmad said Safe City was not merely a surveillance system but an integrated, technology-based policing model connecting monitoring, data analytics, field police and command-and-control operations.
He said modern cameras, artificial intelligence, digital monitoring and data analytics were enabling police to identify suspicious activities, detect potential threats and ensure a faster response.
The visiting officers appreciated the study tour, describing it as useful in understanding technology-based policing, crime prevention, traffic management, intelligence-based response and coordination among different institutions.
Earlier, the officers also visited the Shuhada Memorial at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines and offered prayers for the martyrs.
The visit concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields between DIG Ijaz Ahmad and the visiting delegation.
