KOHAT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, visited various Imambargahs in the Bangash area of Kohat and reviewed security and administrative arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.
Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz Wazir and Assistant Commissioner Naveed Ahmad accompanied the minister during the visit.
Shafi Jan met with Imambargah administrators, local elders and mourners, listened to their concerns, suggestions and demands, and directed the relevant authorities to address issues on a priority basis.
The minister reviewed arrangements related to security, cleanliness, electricity, water supply and other civic facilities. He also inspected security measures, entry and exit routes, and contingency plans put in place to deal with any emergency situation.
Speaking on the occasion, Shafi Jan said that maintaining law and order and ensuring all necessary facilities for mourners during Muharram remained the government’s top priority. He said comprehensive security plans had been formulated at the district level under the directives of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and were being implemented effectively.
The minister said that 43,317 police personnel had been deployed across the province to perform security duties during Muharram, adding that modern technology was also being utilized to further strengthen the security system.
He stated that the district administration and law enforcement agencies were fully active and all available resources were being mobilized to facilitate mourners. He directed the concerned departments to take practical measures for the immediate resolution of issues faced by Imambargahs and ensure that all arrangements were completed well in time.
Shafi Jan stressed the need for collective efforts to promote inter-sect harmony, peace, tolerance and brotherhood during Muharram. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing a peaceful, secure and conducive environment for mourners throughout the holy month.
