Karachi: A five day specialised training programme for officers and personnel of the Sindh Police was conducted at the Special Security Unit Headquarters in Karachi with the support of the US Consulate General Karachi and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The training was aimed at equipping Sindh Police personnel with modern investigative techniques, professional expertise and international best practices.
Sindh Home Minister attended the certificate distribution ceremony as the chief guest accompanied by Inspector General of Police Sindh. Representatives of the FBI Legal Attaché Office and officials of the US Consulate General Karachi were also present. A total of 27 officers and personnel from various units of the Sindh Police participated in the training.
The course covered a threat identification and assessment, understanding human behaviour, behavioural analysis, interview techniques, communication and methods of persuasion. Participants were also introduced to modern investigative approaches and practical experiences to help them better assess potential threats and conduct more effective interviews during investigations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar emphasised that FBI’s specialised training in Pakistan was an excellent opportunity for Sindh Police. He noted that in the past, Pakistani police officers had to travel to the United States to receive such specialised training, whereas similar training had now been made available in Karachi.
DIGP Security and Emergency Services Division Dr Maqsood Ahmed addressed the FBI-led training in Pakistan as an important and landmark initiative. He said the programme provided police officers from different ranks an opportunity to learn modern policing and investigative techniques directly from FBI experts.
The Assistant Legal Attaché of the US Consulate General Karachi appreciated the SSU for hosting the training and providing excellent hospitality. He said the programme gave participating officers an opportunity to learn new approaches, exchange professional experiences and benefit from one another’s expertise.
