SWAT:The Swat Schools Sports Gala is set to commence on October 21 with great enthusiasm, featuring over 3,000 students from 268 government and private schools across the district. All necessary arrangements have been finalized for the grand event.
In an exclusive interview with Rafiullah Khan, host of Pakhtunkhwa Radio FM 98’s popular sports program “Har Jeet”, Akhtar Ali Khan, General Secretary of the Sports Gala Swat and Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Kokari, stated that the purpose of this gala is to uncover hidden youth talent and provide them with positive opportunities.
He said, “A healthy body is the guarantee of a healthy mind.” The gala aims to promote discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills among students through sports.
The opening ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. on October 21 at the Hockey Straw Turf, Makan Bagh, where the Deputy Commissioner of Swat will attend as the chief guest. Sports competitions will be held simultaneously on 20 different grounds across all tehsils, supervised by over 200 officials.
A total of 80 cricket teams and 60 tug-of-war teams will participate, along with competitors in other major and minor games. Literary and cultural contests—such as Qiraat, Hamd-o-Naat, National Anthem, Quiz, and other performances—will also be featured.
An official event song has been prepared and will be broadcast with live commentary during the matches.
At the closing ceremony, winners will receive certificates, shields, and prizes, while a newly introduced “Aggregate Trophy” will honor the best-performing school at the district level.
Akhtar Ali Khan encouraged students, saying that the gala is a golden opportunity to showcase their abilities and make both their schools and Swat proud through dedication and sportsmanship.
