Tariq Saeed Marwat Says Timely, Transparent Justice Is KP Govt’s Top Priority

PESHAWAR: Special Assistant for Home and Tribal Affairs Tariq Saeed Marwat Attends First-Ever Two-Day Provincial Prosecution Performance Review Meeting; Calls for Further Strengthening the Criminal Justice System

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs, Tariq Saeed Marwat, attended the first-ever two-day Provincial Prosecution Performance Review Meeting as the chief guest. The meeting was also attended by Additional Chief Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Ikram Ullah Khan, Director General Prosecution Muhammad Rafiq Khan Mohmand, Regional Directors, District Public Prosecutors and other senior officials.

The meeting reviewed the six-month performance of all regional divisions and districts, with detailed presentations on effective prosecution of criminal cases, conviction rates, institutional capacity, legal reforms and measures aimed at further strengthening the criminal justice system across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing the participants, Tariq Saeed Marwat appreciated the professional commitment and dedicated services of the prosecution officers. He said that, in line with the vision of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, the provision of timely, transparent and quality justice remains the foremost priority of the provincial government. He added that a strong and effective prosecution service is essential for upholding the rule of law, enhancing public confidence and ensuring effective crime control.

The Special Assistant directed all prosecutors to further improve case preparation, legal research and courtroom advocacy to ensure that offenders are prosecuted effectively and brought to justice in accordance with the law. He also emphasized the need to strengthen coordination between investigating agencies and the Prosecution Service, improve the quality of evidence and promote greater professional collaboration among all stakeholders of the criminal justice system.

Highlighting the importance of effective prosecution in narcotics-related cases, Tariq Saeed Marwat said that drug abuse poses a serious threat to society, particularly to the younger generation. He reaffirmed the provincial government’s firm commitment to eliminating the menace of narcotics and directed all relevant institutions to ensure thorough legal preparation, quality evidence and effective prosecution to secure convictions in accordance with the law.

He further stated that the provincial government would continue extending full support to modernize the Prosecution Service, enhance its institutional capacity and further strengthen a transparent, efficient and people-centric criminal justice system to ensure timely and quality justice for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
