LAHORE: The University of Lahore (UOL) and the University of Plymouth, UK, have launched a Transnational Education (TNE) partnership aimed at expanding international academic and research opportunities for Pakistani students.
The launch ceremony was attended by Ben Warrington, Head of the Lahore Office of the British High Commission, as chief guest. The University of Plymouth delegation was led by Professor Vladimir Bogdan Ghita, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Transnational Education.
The ceremony was presided over by Awais Raoof, Chairman, Board of Governors, UOL, along with Dr Samina Shah, Dean, Department of International Qualifications.
Speaking on the occasion, Ben Warrington said the partnership would bring greater educational opportunities closer to home while strengthening academic cooperation between Punjab and the United Kingdom.
Awais Raoof termed the initiative a significant milestone for higher education in Pakistan, saying it would create new opportunities for students and represented the first programme of its kind at a Pakistani university.
Professor Vladimir Bogdan Ghita said the partnership reflected a strong joint academic effort and would provide opportunities for greater student engagement and collaborative research.
The ceremony included a detailed presentation on the partnership, distribution of commemorative shields and the formal launch of the new programmes. The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, fireworks and a group photograph.
