PESHAWAR: The Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with sports officials from universities across the country, hosted a reception in Lahore to honour Bahr Karam, Director Sports of the University of Peshawar, on his promotion to Grade 21.
HEC Director General Sports Rizwan Shaukat, Assistant Director Sports Muhammad Asif, directors of sports from various universities and other prominent personalities attended the ceremony and congratulated Bahr Karam on his promotion.
Speaking on the occasion, Bahr Karam said his promotion to Grade 21 was a matter of great honour as well as a major responsibility. He expressed his resolve to continue working for the promotion of university sports at the University of Peshawar and across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, improve facilities for athletes and provide talented young players with opportunities to progress at national and international levels.
He thanked the HEC and fellow sports officials for organizing the ceremony and for expressing their goodwill and affection on his promotion.
HEC DG Sports Rizwan Shaukat congratulated Bahr Karam and said his promotion was recognition of his long professional services, hard work and significant contribution to the field of sports.
He emphasized that experienced and dynamic sports officials played an important role in promoting sports at universities. He said HEC was continuing its efforts to improve the standard of university sports across the country and provide athletes with greater opportunities to showcase their talent.
Directors and sports officials from several universities also attended the ceremony, including Dr. Farooq Hussain of Abdul Wali Khan University, Arshad Sattar of the University of Central Punjab, Rashid Qureshi of the University of Karachi, Dr. Safdar Awan of Quaid-i-Azam University, Maria Sameen of Shaheed Benazir Women University Peshawar, as well as sports officials from Government College University Lahore and other institutions.
The participants congratulated Bahr Karam on his promotion and expressed hope that his experience and leadership would further contribute to the development of university sports and the promotion of young sporting talent in the country.
