PESHAWAR: Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Agriculture, Mian Muhammad Umar, attended a Sona Kisan Convention as a chief guest at a hotel in Peshawar. The event was attended by senior officials of Agriculture Department, agricultural experts, representatives of farmers organizations, stakeholders from the seed, fertilizer and pesticide sectors as well as a large number of farmers from different districts of province.
Addressing the convention, Mian Muhammad Umar said that development of agriculture sector and prosperity of farmers are among top priorities of provincial government. He stated that agriculture is backbone of national economy and plays a vital role in country’s development. Therefore, providing farmers with modern facilities, quality agricultural services and timely technical guidance is essential. He emphasized that sustainable agricultural growth cannot be achieved without facilitating and supporting the farming community.
Advisor Agriculture further said that under leadership of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, provincial government is taking comprehensive and effective measures to modernize agriculture, increase farmers’ incomes and enhance agricultural productivity. He added that government is focusing on promotion of modern agricultural technologies, certified seeds, balanced use of fertilizers, modern irrigation systems, agricultural research and extension services to enable farmers to achieve higher yields and better returns with reduced production costs.
Mian Muhammad Umar stressed that creating greater convenience for farmers is essential to increasing per-acre crop yields. He said that establishment of Farm Services Centers across province provide farmers with access to multiple agricultural services, technical assistance and advisory support under one roof, significantly reducing their problems and strengthening agricultural sector.
He urged farmers to adopt modern farming practices and follow recommendations of agricultural experts to improve productivity and profitability. He added that Provincial government remains in close contact with farming community and is incorporating their feedback into agricultural policymaking.
Mian Muhammad Umar further announced that e-Minister Web Portal ( http://eminister.kp.gov.pk) is launched through which farmers can directly submit their complaints, problems and suggestions to the Advisor on Agriculture. He assured participants that all genuine complaints would be addressed promptly to ensure transparent, efficient and farmer-friendly service delivery.
Concluding his speech, Advisor Agriculture appreciated the efforts of the organizers and said that such conventions play a significant role in strengthening coordination between government, Agriculture Department and farming community, while also promoting the exchange of modern agricultural knowledge and contributing to sustainable development of the agriculture sector.
