MARDAN: Twenty students of the Department of Political Science, Women University Mardan (WUM), Session 2023–2027, successfully completed a nine-week internship programme at District Police Mardan.
A certificate distribution ceremony was held at the DPO Office Mardan, where certificates were awarded to the participating students. During the internship, students received practical exposure to general policing, law and order, investigation, operations, Safe City, Command and Control, police stations, Police Facilitation Center, Driving School, PDRM, DRC and Victim Support services.
DPO Mardan Mr. Masood Ahmad appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of practical learning and institutional collaboration. He said that such internship programmes and other similar learning opportunities would continue to be provided to the students of Women University Mardan in the future as well, with the cooperation of District Police Mardan.
Vice Chancellor Women University Mardan, Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana, who was the Chief Guest, appreciated District Police Mardan for facilitating the internship programme. She said that practical exposure to general policing would complement students’ academic learning and enhance their professional skills. The Vice Chancellor particularly appreciated the efforts of SP Investigation Ms. Maria Mustafa and Mr. Faheem, PRO District Police Mardan, for their valuable role in arranging, coordinating and facilitating the internship programme, providing guidance and support to the students, and ensuring their smooth engagement with various police departments.
During the ceremony, Sonia secured first position, Sumaiya second, and Iqra third, while certificates were distributed among all participating students upon successful completion of the internship.
The ceremony was attended by Head of Department Dr. Nelofar Ikram, SP Investigation Ms. Maria Mustafa, ORIC Director Ms. Haleema Ikram, faculty members, supervisors and students, along with PRO Women University Mardan Mr. Kamran Khan.
The successful completion of the internship reflects WUM’s commitment to providing students with practical, field-based learning opportunities and strengthening collaboration with public-sector institutions.
