SHANGLA/LOWER KOHISTAN: A police official was martyred and another critically injured when a police mobile plunged into a deep ravine from the Karakoram Highway (KKH) at Jijal Shaitan Pari during night duty.
According to sources, the police mobile was on routine duty when it reportedly went out of control and fell into the ravine. Jijal Police Post In-Charge Hawaldar Noor-ul-Huda, a resident of Pattan, was martyred in the accident, while the driver sustained critical injuries.
The injured official was shifted to Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad, where he is receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The funeral prayer of Noor-ul-Huda was offered in Pattan and was attended by police officials, colleagues, local elders and residents. He was later laid to rest amid a large gathering.
Local residents paid tribute to the martyred officer for sacrificing his life while performing his duty and expressed condolences to his family. They also prayed for the early recovery of the injured police official.
The incident has caused widespread grief in the area and highlighted the risks faced by police personnel while performing duties in difficult mountainous terrain, particularly at night.
