An annual performance review meeting of Rescue 1122 Jhelum was held under the chairmanship of District Emergency Officer Engineer Saeed Ahmed. The meeting was attended by Control Room In-Charge Sabir Hussain, Senior Accountant Muhammad Shiraz, station coordinators from all tehsils, and other senior officials.
During the meeting, it was revealed that in 2025, the rescue personnel of Jhelum demonstrated outstanding performance by utilizing their high morale and professional skills. Rescue 1122 Jhelum maintained an average emergency response time of 8.4 minutes throughout the year, reflecting its operational efficiency and preparedness.
According to details shared in the meeting, the Rescue 1122 Jhelum control room received a total of 122,595 phone calls during 2025, out of which 29,886 were emergency calls. These included 4,397 road traffic accidents, 20,746 medical emergencies, 392 fire emergencies, 357 crime-related cases, 25 drowning incidents, 14 building collapse incidents, and 3,955 miscellaneous emergencies.
In addition, under the Patient Transfer Service, 1,076 patients were shifted from Tehsil Headquarters and District Headquarters hospitals to major hospitals in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Sargodha to ensure access to better medical facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Engineer Saeed Ahmed said that Rescue 1122 personnel are fully prepared at all times to deal with any emergency or disaster. He emphasized that Rescue 1122 is a public service institution and remains committed to serving the welfare of the people. “Our mission is to provide timely and high-quality rescue services to the public,” he said.
He urged citizens to refrain from making unnecessary calls to the emergency number, warning that misuse of the service could cost the life of a person genuinely in need of immediate assistance.
The meeting further noted that the Community Safety Wing of Rescue 1122 Jhelum conducted surveys of high-rise buildings and issued necessary instructions to building owners to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Moreover, to promote a safer society, Rescue 1122 organized first aid and emergency response training sessions at the level of institutions, schools, colleges, and union councils. These sessions focused on accident awareness, basic life support, and response to medical emergencies.
Additionally, mock drills related to emergency situations, natural disasters, and other incidents were conducted to enhance preparedness and coordination among responders and the community.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to further strengthen emergency services and continue improving response capacity to ensure maximum safety and protection for the people of Jhelum.
