Russia Condemns US Armed Aggression Against Venezuela

Special Correspondent

MOSCOW: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has issued a statement strongly condemning the armed aggression carried out by the United States against Venezuela, expressing deep concern over the escalation and calling for an immediate return to dialogue.

According to the statement, the actions undertaken by the United States constitute an act of armed aggression and deserve unequivocal condemnation. The Ministry rejected the pretexts used to justify the attack, stating that ideologically driven hostility has overridden pragmatic engagement and any willingness to build relations based on trust and predictability.

The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that, under the current circumstances, it is crucial to prevent further escalation and to focus on resolving differences through dialogue-based mechanisms. It stressed that all parties with grievances against one another must seek peaceful solutions through diplomatic channels, adding that Russia stands ready to support such efforts.

The statement reaffirmed that Latin America must remain a zone of peace, in line with the declaration adopted in 2014, and underscored that Venezuela must be guaranteed the right to determine its own future without any external interference, particularly of a military nature.

Russia reiterated its solidarity with the Venezuelan people and its support for the course pursued by the Bolivarian leadership to protect the country’s sovereignty and national interests. The Ministry also voiced support for calls by the Venezuelan authorities and several Latin American leaders for the urgent convening of a meeting of the United Nations Security Council.

The statement further clarified that Russia’s Embassy in Caracas continues to operate normally, taking into account the situation on the ground, and remains in constant contact with Venezuelan authorities as well as with Russian nationals in the country. At present, there is no information indicating that any citizens of the Russian Federation have been injured.
