Director General of Trade Organizations Bilal Khan Pasha said that women traders will be provided with all possible facilitation and that some requirements will be relaxed for them. He said the DGTO system is being automated, which will help resolve chambers’ issues and improve administrative processes.
Addressing the 4th All Pakistan Women Chambers Presidents International Conference, being held in Islamabad and organized by the Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce (IWCCI), he said a pilot project for automation would be launched within the next few months. Upon completion, all DGTO data would be uploaded and linked to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and the Federal Board of Revenue. And e-voting will be introduced for elections in all chambers.
He said several chambers are already benefiting from the Export Development Fund (EDF), and women’s chambers should also come forward to avail themselves of this support. Since the FPCCI is a member of the EDF, women should coordinate with it. SMEs will also be made members of the EDF, and women’s representation in these processes will be increased.
Bilal Khan Pasha said the chair of the Export Development Fund will come from the private sector. He added that the DGTO regional offices in Karachi and Lahore will address issues raised by trade organizations.
He said all DGTO decisions will be uploaded on the website for public awareness. He added that laws are being improved, paper organizations will be eliminated, and decisions on applications for new chambers will be made within three months. He informed that a decision has been taken to resolve all issues within a month, except those related to the registration of new chambers of commerce.
On the occasion, Samina Fazil and other participants raised several questions, and the DGTO assured them that all issues would be addressed. Secretary General UBG Zafar Bakhtawri said these reforms will increase transparency, cut delays, and improve confidence among entrepreneurs. Participants welcomed the proposed changes and stressed the need for their timely implementation. The conference concluded with a call for closer coordination between women’s chambers and relevant government bodies to promote inclusive trade growth.
