Peshawar: Chairman of the All Pakistan Secretariat Group Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zafar Khan Yousafzai, has strongly reacted to the recent increase in petrol prices, stating that government employees are already burdened by severe inflation, and raising petrol prices under such circumstances is completely unjust and unacceptable.
He said that according to senior officials, the country has sufficient petrol reserves until March 30, yet increasing the prices despite this cannot be considered fair to the public and government employees. He added that due to limited salaries and rising inflation, government employees are already facing serious financial difficulties and the government should provide immediate relief.
Zafar Khan Yousafzai made it clear that if employees’ issues are not resolved immediately, government employees across the country will be forced to stage peaceful protests. He said that employees from different government departments will unite and announce a future course of action to secure their rights.
He also urged the Prime Minister and relevant authorities to take immediate steps while keeping in mind the welfare of employees and the public interest, and to reconsider the decision to increase petrol prices.
