DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Atomic Energy Cancer Hospital (AECH) DINAR, Dera Ismail Khan, in collaboration with Dinar Patient Welfare Society, organised a special ceremony and awareness walk to honour cancer survivors and highlight the importance of timely diagnosis, effective treatment and social support for cancer patients.

Cancer survivors, their family members, medical staff and people from different walks of life participated in the event to recognise the courage and determination of those who successfully completed their treatment.

Speaking to the media, Hospital Director Dr. Nabeela Javed said cancer could be treated, and the chances of recovery could be improved through early diagnosis, modern medical facilities and proper treatment.

She emphasised that cancer patients required mental, emotional and social support alongside medical care, highlighting the important role of family members throughout the treatment process.

Dr. Nabeela Javed said Dinar Cancer Hospital was actively working to provide quality treatment and raise public awareness about the disease. She urged people not to ignore suspicious symptoms, consult qualified doctors and seek timely diagnosis and treatment.

Describing cancer survivors as symbols of hope, courage and determination, she said their experiences could encourage others facing similar challenges.

During the event, cancer survivors also shared their personal experiences. A female survivor said that receiving a cancer diagnosis had been a difficult experience, but the guidance of medical staff and encouragement from her family helped her remain courageous throughout treatment. She stressed the importance of maintaining hope and following medical advice.

Another survivor said cancer patients faced emotional and psychological challenges in addition to physical difficulties, urging families and society to extend sympathy, encouragement and practical support to those undergoing treatment.

Other participants stressed that cancer patients should never be isolated or made to feel inferior. Instead, they should receive proper treatment, encouragement and social support.

The awareness walk conveyed the message that the fight against cancer required collective efforts from patients, families, healthcare institutions and society.

The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to promoting cancer awareness, encouraging early diagnosis and ensuring that the message of hope and support for cancer survivors reached a wider section of society.
