DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Vice Chancellor Gomal University Professor Dr. Shakeebullah has urged teachers, administrative officers and employees to work together for the betterment of the institution, saying that the university is their alma mater and pride and must be strengthened by abandoning blame games and negative attitudes.

He expressed these views while addressing a reception hosted in his honour by teachers and administrative officers at the Senate Hall of Gomal University.

Dr. Shakeebullah said the current situation of the university was disturbing, adding that sending a vice chancellor on forced leave was regrettable. He stressed that all stakeholders must join hands to overcome institutional challenges and protect the interests of employees.

He said no vice chancellor wished to face administrative difficulties, and only collective efforts, teamwork and positive thinking could resolve the problems confronting the university.

Recalling his previous tenure, he said teamwork had helped secure promotions for teachers and administrative officers, achieve a significant increase in student enrolment and ensure that no employee faced any inquiry.

The vice chancellor said the responsibility entrusted to him by the provincial government could only be effectively fulfilled through mutual cooperation. He assured employees that the doors of his office and heart were open to everyone, welcoming constructive suggestions while discouraging negative attitudes.

Highlighting the financial challenges, Dr. Shakeebullah said the university needed to generate maximum resources and facilities, particularly to ensure timely salaries for employees and pensions for retired staff members.

He observed that the number of pensioners was increasing every year and stressed that providing their rightful benefits was a shared responsibility. He added that, being an employee of the same institution, he fully understood the concerns of serving and retired employees.

On the occasion, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Niamatullah Babar, Registrar Imranullah Marwat, Dean of Sciences Dr. Shafiullah Khan, former Director Tank Campus and leader of the Teaching Community Dr. Ihsanullah Danish, and Officers Association leader Riaz Bettani welcomed the vice chancellor.

Representing their respective departments, they appreciated his previous contributions to the university, welcomed his commitment to institutional improvement and assured him of their full cooperation in addressing the challenges facing Gomal University and its employees.
