PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a weather update forecasting partly cloudy conditions across most districts of the province during the next 24 hours, while colder temperatures are expected in upper districts during night hours.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms, along with snowfall over high mountains and isolated hailstorms, may occur in several districts including Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Malakand, Buner, Swat, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolai-Palas, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram and Torghar.
Similar weather conditions are also expected in Mohmand, Bajaur, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Peshawar, Khyber, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai and North Waziristan.
During the last 24 hours, Malam Jabba recorded the highest rainfall with 7 mm, followed by Chitral and Dir with 4 mm each. Peshawar Airport recorded 3 mm rainfall while the city received 2 mm. Saidu Sharif and Mirkhani recorded 2 mm each, while Drosh, Bannu and Cherat received 1 mm rainfall each. A trace of rain was also reported in Takht Bhai.
The highest maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 34°C in Dera Ismail Khan, while the lowest minimum temperature today was recorded in Kalam and Malam Jabba at 3°C each.
According to air quality data from IQAir, Peshawar recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 81, Abbottabad 69, Baffa 79, Haripur 53 and Malam Jabba 38.
PDMA has advised citizens to remain cautious, particularly in mountainous areas, and contact the PDMA KP helpline (1700) in case of emergencies.
