PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Commission (KPCPWC), with support from UNICEF Pakistan on Monday hosted a special Eid celebration for vulnerable and deserving children at its Provincial Office here.
The event brought together over 200 children, including boys and girls from Zamung Kor Model Institute for State Children, Angel Home, and the Special Education Complex.
Umarah Khan, Additional Secretary of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was the chief guest.
The celebration was also attended by Ijaz Muhammad Khan, Chief Child Protection, Ms. Bushra Ajmal, Child Protection Officer at UNICEF Pakistan, and staff from participating child welfare institutions.
The event aimed to share the spirit of Eid and bring smiles to children, reaffirming the community’s support, care, and love for vulnerable groups.
Ijaz Muhammad Khan welcomed guests and children, highlighting the commission’s commitment to creating a safe environment for children and ongoing efforts to strengthen legal frameworks for care institutions.

He emphasized collaboration between government, civil society, and development partners in advancing child protection.
Bushra Ajmal praised the initiative and shared UNICEF’s global commitment to child wellbeing, while Umarah Khan stressed the importance of such initiatives in promoting inclusion, compassion, and support for vulnerable children.
The children participated in stage performances on child protection themes, adding energy and excitement to the celebration.
Eid gifts were distributed among the children, as well as to displaced families affected by the ongoing security situation, through Noor Education Foundation.
The event concluded with group photographs and informal interactions, reflecting a joint commitment by the government and its partners to ensure every child feels valued, supported, and included in the joy of Eid.
