PESHAWAR: Local cricket activities have resumed at the historic Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, bringing life back to the ground with regular matches, training sessions, and academy programs.
After a long pause, the revival of cricket has energized players and delighted fans, as matches between local teams are being held daily. In addition, Pakistan Cricket Board National Under-17 matches are underway, while young cricketers continue intensive training at the stadiumโs academy facilities.
Despite the renewed activity, several challenges persist. Sources indicate that a severe shortage of staff is affecting administrative operations, creating hurdles in the smooth management of daily events. The lack of trained personnel is also impacting critical tasks such as pitch preparation, which could ultimately affect the quality of matches.
Cricket circles emphasize that the stadium remains the heart of the sport in the province. They urge authorities to take immediate steps to address staffing gaps, enhance security, and improve facilities to ensure that the venue maintains its significance at both national and international levels.
