Pakistan Hosts ITF Men’s Futures Tennis Tournament in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The ITF Men’s Futures M-15 Islamabad is underway at the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Tennis Complex, bringing together 70 players from 23 countries in a major international tennis competition.

Participants represent Pakistan, Kuwait, Russia, Uzbekistan, Sweden, Australia, Malaysia, Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania, China, Turkey, Algeria, Canada, USA, Ireland, Poland, Hong Kong, Nepal, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Japan, making it one of the most diverse tennis events hosted in the country.

Top seed of the tournament is Leo Borg of Sweden, while Samir Hamza Reguig of Algeria is the second seed.

In the doubles quarterfinal, Barkat Khan and Aqeel Khan defeated Adam Faraq Cao (Canada) and Carl Holder (Great Britain) 6-4, 7-5.

In the semifinal, Aqeel Khan and Barkat Khan overcame Essa Qbarzad (Kuwait) and Darshan Suresh (Malaysia), the third seed pair, with a close 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 victory.

In the final, Muzzamil Murtaza and Abid Ali Khan defeated Barkatullah and Aqeel Khan 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 to claim the title after a competitive match.

The tournament continues to highlight Pakistan’s growing role in hosting international tennis events and promoting sports at the global level.
