Swat Mayor Criticizes PTI MPAs Over Municipal Failures

SOHAIL BACHA

SWAT: Swat City Mayor Shahid Ali Khan has held PTI MPAs responsible for the failure of the municipal system, alleging that internal issues within the party are affecting governance and public service delivery.

In an interview with the media at his office, the mayor said that former Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had undertaken significant development work for Swat, but the region suffered setbacks after political changes. He claimed that decisions within the government are often implemented only after directives reach the offices of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Assistant Commissioner (AC).

Shahid Ali Khan further stated that certain vested interests within PTI are damaging the vision of Imran Khan. However, he maintained that even today around 90 percent of the people support PTI.

Highlighting his own role, the mayor said he has utilized all available resources to serve the public, adding that significant work has been carried out for the restoration of tourism, beautification of the city, and development projects with special funds from MPA Fazal Hakeem Khan.

“I believe in service, and it will continue even without holding office. My people are with me, and I am with my people,” he remarked.

Responding to a question regarding the Senate election, he said the party has its own policies, adding that Murad Saeed belongs to Swat and it is the region’s right to have representation. He emphasized that the law should be equal for everyone and termed the release of Imran Khan as very important.

The mayor also expressed concern over encroachments and actions against hotels along the Swat River, stating that such measures have negatively impacted tourism in the region.
