MNA Naz Baloch Visits FGP, Discusses Climate Resilience and Inclusive Development

ISLAMABAD: Member of the National Assembly and former Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change, Naz Baloch, visited the office of Freedom Gate Prosperity (FGP) on Wednesday and held detailed discussions on Pakistan’s emerging development priorities, with particular focus on climate resilience, women’s empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods.
During the meeting with Muhammad Anwar, CEO of FGP, Shafqat Aziz, Strategic Policy Advisor, and Dr. Shahbaz Tariq, Head of Research, the participants exchanged views on climate change adaptation, climate finance, disaster resilience, environmental sustainability, and the disproportionate impacts of climate change on women, children, and vulnerable communities. The discussion also covered opportunities to promote youth and women’s economic empowerment through innovative, community-driven development interventions.
Naz Baloch emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among policymakers, civil society and development organizations to ensure that climate policies translate into tangible benefits for communities most affected by environmental challenges. She noted that greater investment in climate adaptation and locally-led initiatives is essential for building resilient communities and advancing sustainable development.
Ms Baloch also underscored the importance of ensuring that women and young people remain at the center of climate and development policies. She said that strengthening their participation in decision-making, improving access to climate finance, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities are essential for building resilient communities and achieving inclusive national development.
Muhammad Anwar briefed the visiting parliamentarian on FGP’s ongoing initiatives in climate resilience, community empowerment, policy advocacy, digital innovation, and sustainable development. He highlighted the organization’s commitment to developing practical, evidence-based solutions and fostering partnerships that contribute to inclusive growth and improved livelihoods across Pakistan.
Shafqat Aziz shared FGP’s strategic vision for integrating climate action and emphasized that strengthening climate knowledge, encouraging innovation, and promoting informed policy dialogue are essential to addressing the country’s growing environmental and socio-economic challenges.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to exploring collaborative initiatives to strengthen climate resilience, empower women and youth, and promote innovative solutions to Pakistan’s evolving development challenges.
