PESHAWAR: The Blessing Welfare and Development Organization (BWDO) has taken a major step toward creating an integrated support system for vulnerable individuals in Peshawar by establishing a Safety and Support Center. The initiative provides free mental health services while also linking people in crisis with legal aid, safe shelters, hospitals, and vocational training opportunities.
In a recent review meeting with referral partners, BWDO brought together representatives from government departments, NGOs, INGOs, doctors from Lady Reading Hospital, Chamber of Commerce members, lawyers, psychologists, shelter home managers, and community counselors. The participants focused on building a stronger, coordinated response to ensure that no one in distress slips through the cracks.
The referral model ensures that each individual finds timely and appropriate support: those with mental health needs are guided to BWDO’s centers, patients with physical illness are referred to hospitals, homeless women to shelters, and those facing legal challenges to practicing lawyers. For those seeking self-reliance, pathways toward vocational training and economic empowerment are included.
Participants emphasized the urgency of early identification of stress and trauma cases, confidentiality in handling referrals, and stronger hospital–community linkages.
BWDO acknowledged the commitment of its partners and reaffirmed its long-term vision: to weave a network where every struggle finds a solution and no individual is left alone in crisis.
