A two-day “Capacity Building Training” was organized in Peshawar through the collaboration of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Commission and HELVETAS, which was attended by representatives from various fields. The purpose of the workshop was to educate frontline workers about the basic principles of child protection, legal frameworks, and modern requirements of case management.
Journalists, lawyers, Rescue 1122 personnel, jail police representatives, and members of civil society participated in the training session. The workshop trainers included Dr. Nayab, Syed Ud Din Kaka Khel, and Akhtar Muneer from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Commission.
During the workshop, participants were given a detailed briefing on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Commission Act 2010. The training program also included discussions on the structure of Child Protection Units operated by the Child Commission, the role of district committees, and community-level child protection committees.
Experts informed participants about the nature of child-related cases, methods of handling them, key stages of case management, and the role of Child Protection Courts. The workshop emphasized that a strong child protection system can only be established through safeguarding child rights, timely reporting, community mobilization, and effective coordination among relevant institutions.
