DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Professors, Lecturers and Librarians Association (KPPLA) Divisional President DI Khan, Sardar Ihsanullah Khan Gandapur has strongly condemned the federal government’s decision to withdraw the tax rebate for teachers, terming it anti-education and a clear violation of a written agreement with the All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA).
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Sardar Ihsanullah Khan Gandapur said that the tax rebate was a recognition and relief for teachers across the country, acknowledging their role in nation-building. He regretted that instead of increasing the rebate, the government had withdrawn it, which reflects its anti-education mindset.
He said the government was imposing tax after tax on teachers while failing to curb its own extravagance, calling the move deplorable and unjust.
He emphasized that teachers were already facing severe financial pressures and such decisions would further demoralize the education community.
The KPPLA demanded that the federal government immediately revoke the decision to withdraw the tax exemption for teachers and restore the 50 percent tax rebate. The association warned that if the decision was not reversed, KPPLA would launch a strong protest movement against the government.
