NOWSHERA: U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker visited Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to highlight the positive role of U.S. businesses in uplifting local communities and strengthening economic growth through deeper U.S.-Pakistan cooperation.
During her visit, CDA Baker officially inaugurated a new KFC restaurant in Nowshera and toured a KFC-supported Deaf Reach School, underscoring American companies’ commitment to corporate social responsibility. Since 2014, KFC has supported Pakistan’s deaf community by providing education, skills training, and employment opportunities for young people across the country.

The Deaf Reach Schools are operated by the Family Education Services Foundation, founded by American philanthropists Richard Geary and Heidi Gustanski-Geary. The partnership was highlighted as a strong example of how U.S. businesses expand opportunity while delivering meaningful social impact.
“Today’s opening is a model for how American brands, working with Pakistani partners, contribute directly to local economic growth,” CDA Baker said. She added that KFC’s support for initiatives such as Deaf Reach Schools demonstrates how responsible businesses improve lives and broaden access to opportunity.

CDA Baker further noted that deeper economic cooperation brings tangible benefits to both countries. To date, more than 80 U.S. companies have invested in Pakistan, directly employing around 120,000 Pakistani workers and indirectly supporting approximately one million additional jobs.
The visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reaffirmed the United States’ enduring commitment to strengthening U.S.-Pakistan collaboration in trade and bilateral investment, aimed at promoting shared prosperity and long-term economic development for both nations.
