DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said that former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is aspiring to return to power, but internal party dynamics and decisions of the PTI leadership remain major obstacles in his path.
Talking to media representatives at Dera Airport, the Governor said that Ali Amin Gandapur is now seeking relief from the same institutions and individuals he had strongly criticized in the past.
He noted that the former Chief Minister had himself approached the Constitutional Court despite previously opposing both the court and its establishment. According to the Governor, regardless of any judicial decision, the final verdict regarding Ali Amin Gandapur’s political future would rest with the PTI leadership and party decision-makers.
Faisal Karim Kundi said that differences within PTI over leadership and governance issues are internal party matters. “It is for the party to decide who remains Chief Minister and who does not,” he remarked.
The Governor claimed that Ali Amin Gandapur has been holding meetings with various political figures in Islamabad in an effort to gain support for a political comeback. He added that political developments in Islamabad rarely remain hidden for long.
Highlighting provincial challenges, Governor Kundi said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing serious issues related to governance, corruption, and law and order, while the deteriorating security situation has emerged as the most pressing challenge.
He stressed that the government should focus on resolving public problems and improving the law and order situation rather than engaging in political disputes.
Responding to a question, the Governor announced that practical work on the N-55 Dera-Parwa Road dualization project would begin soon, adding that the tendering process had already been completed.
Commenting on agricultural issues, Faisal Karim Kundi termed the Punjab government’s restrictions on wheat movement an injustice to farmers and contrary to constitutional principles. He urged authorities to review the decision to safeguard farmers’ interests.
Regarding the proposed 28th Constitutional Amendment, the Governor said that no official draft had yet been released. He added that the Pakistan Peoples Party carefully reviews all constitutional matters before presenting its recommendations and would continue to play a constructive and responsible role in any future constitutional reforms.
